Oak House

Oak House is a listed Georgian building with many original features. Close to the market towns of Aylsham, Reepham & Holt. 10 miles from Norwich & a stones throw to the Broads, Oak House is an excellent stepping off point to explore Norfolk. We are also within easy reach of popular wedding locations Salle, Booton, Oxnead Hall & others.

We have two large double rooms, the 4 Poster Room with ensuite bathroom and the Sleigh Room with private bathroom across the landing. In both bedrooms we provide hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities and in the bathrooms we provide fluffy towels, shampoo and conditioner and shower creme. For extra relaxation there’s bubble bath, scented oils & candles around the bath. Iron & ironing board are available on request. No TVs but free superfast WiFi is available throughout the house.

Oak House 4 Poster Room – a great getaway for couples.

The 4 Poster Room is an oak panelled bedroom which boasts a luxurious four poster bed. There is ample cupboard space, chest of drawers, sofa, table and chairs with The ensuite bathroom has an oval bath with separate shower and bidet.


Oak House Sleigh Room – A Norfolk hideaway.

The Sleigh Room has a superking sleigh bed with chest of drawers and cupboard space. The private bathroom with old fashioned deep enamelled bath and drench shower is just across the landing.

A big part of staying at Oak House is the breakfast. Served in our sunny garden room and using locally sourced produce.  There is always choice of meusli and other cereals, yoghurt, fantastic Full English using sausages, bacon, eggs and black pudding all made by a local butcher.  We will always accommodate special diets and allergies, just let us know with your booking.

The surrounding area

Cawston is a conservation village and North Norfolk is a beautiful area to explore. We are always available for advice on where to go and what there is to see and do. The coast has many sandy beaches from Sea Palling to beyond Holkham. It is also a fantastic area for bird watching with reserves at Cley and Titchwell. The area is great for cyclists with Marriot’s Way and National Cycle Route One close by. The Norfolk Broads are within easy reach for nature reserves and boating activities. Norwich is about ten miles away and the attractive market towns of Holt, Reepham and Aylsham are nearby. As well as other stately homes and gardens nearby are the Historic National Trust properties Blickling and Felbrigg Halls.

Getting around

When visiting Norfolk a car is essential but there are some great options to see the county by bicycle including Marriott’s Way and National Cycle Route 1. Parking is on the street directly outside the house. Bicycles can be secured in the back garden.


Prices are for up to 2 people including breakfast. There is an excellent pub next door for great pub grub & conviviality.
